Over the past couple of weeks, Arc Electric has been distributing new uniforms to our electricians. The new uniforms consist of t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, trousers and new improved hard hats. The electricians all look very smart in their new apparel (even if we do say so ourselves).

As Arc Electric likes to make a good impression to all our clients and suppliers; we have now provided the office staff with new uniforms. The ladies wearing a classic white fitted short sleeved shirt, embroidered with the company logo and complete with a light & dark blue scarf. The gentlemen have been provided with white long or short sleeved shirts, embroidered with the company logo and complete with new ties.

MICHAEL DAVIES – SAINT OR SINNER?……SAINT

Over the past 2 years Michael Davies has been on a mission; to raise as much money as he can for charity. Which charity is this for you ask? After speaking with Michael his charity would be Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton under Lyne; however he’s not limited to Willow Wood and tries to help all charities.

Back in June 2008 Michael and 2 friends arranged a climb of Mount Snowdon to raise money for Willow Wood. After a lengthy climb and accidents along the way (two members having to get a train back down the mountain due to one of them falling and breaking his leg) they raised a total of £3,200

This only inspired them to carry on raising even more money. Each July Michael and friends arrange a football tournament to raise money for Willow Wood. The tournament consists of 10 local teams all playing to raise the cash. Each player contributes £10 to the charity fund. After the tournament the teams meet up in the pub where a raffle and auction take place to swell the coffers. The most recent tournament raised a total of £2,400. Prizes included signed Berbatov Shirts, Tickets for 2 in the Hilton Penthouse, and the best prize of all a Bikini car wash; but instead of the usual busty babes it was 8 dashing dudes.

Michael doesn’t stop there; every year Michael plays in a football tournament at Old Trafford. For once though Michael lets someone else do all the arranging. The teams are mixed with young and old players including ex professionals like David May, Dennis Irwin and Andy Cole. Last year they raised £3,000 to go to the nominated charity of Francis House Children’s Hospice.

We reach the conclusion that Michael Davies is a Saint under his Cheeky exterior. We take our hats off to you Michael your charity work is very inspiring.

On the 29^th October 2010 the company treated the staff to an afternoon out to attend Karting 2000 in Gorton for an afternoon of Go Karting fun..

To make the afternoon more enjoyable and exciting we challenged the staff to a Grand Prix just to stir their inner boy racer. After a safety introduction the boys were off speeding around the mini track. The helmets were secured and the lads were all determined to be crowned Arc Electric Champion.

Watching them drive was not only an enjoyable experience but a funny experience (I know who to watch out for on the roads). From doing skids to throwing tantrums (and that was just the boss) the lads pulled out all the tricks, but at the end of the day there could only be one winner.

The winners were:

3^rd Place – Peter Harwood

2^nd Place – Robert Ashton

1^st Place was won by Nick Winsor. (Who Said Liverpudlians Couldn’t Drive)

Arc Electric exam success

Arc Electric are delighted that Rob Ashton has now passed his Construction Manager’s Site Safety Certificate. This was an intensive 5 day course via constructionskills and means Arc Electric remains at the forefront of health & safety issues. Health and safety issues are very important to us – click here to see our track record.

This course which is intended for project managers, site managers and supervisors was able to give Rob an understanding of delegates’ responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health and welfare and current health and safety legislation.

It might not be a world-shattering event to some, but we’re excited about it. We’ve launched the new Arc Electric web site to try to give our customers and suppliers a better flavour of the overall type of work we do.
